Dutch children get along well with their parents, have large social networks and are especially happy with their schools. This makes them the happiest in the western world, according to a World Health Organization survey of 41 European and North American countries.
A 2007 Unicef report also found Dutch teenagers to be the happiest in the developed world.
The survey also showed that drinking and smoking among Dutch teens has declined.
Approximately 204,000 children, ages 11 to 15, participated in the survey between 2005 and 2006.
