With the ever increasing importance of Alberta’s oil fields, Dutch companies now have a very easy way to get a foot in the door. The Dutch government is opening an office in Edmonton, to be able to be closer to the action.
Honorary consul Bleiken in Edmonton, a driving force behind the attempts to get Holland on Alberta’s radar screen and vice versa, is pleased that his call for a more present representation of The Netherland is answered.
In his own words:“From a European perspective, the critical issue for Alberta is how best to access the EU market. For many countries, this has been accomplished through the Netherlands. Today, the Netherlands is recognized as a world leader in trade, distribution, and transportation. It has developed leading edge supply-chain management systems and a fully integrated European transportation network. This in turn has helped the Netherlands to become the primary trade and transportation centre within Europe, The Netherlands handels a quarter of the Alberta exports into Europe, that is by far the highest of all EU countries”.
New collegue Henk ten Wolde (see picture below), who started August 1, 2024 in his new position, will be promoting The Netherlands from the new Edmonton based office.
The address of the new office, that will have meeting space and exhibit options for Dutch companies is:
