Dutch use less and less water

The Dutch economy uses about one 1 litre of water for every euro it earns. In recent years, less and less water has been used per euro of value added. In 2003, for example, the economy needed 1.04 litres, while in 2006 this had fallen to 0.89 of a litre per euro.
The basic metal industry and petroleum industry use most tap water per euro, followed by livestock farmers, the chemical industry and the wood industry. Tap water use per euro earned has fallen in most sectors of industry.
