Ottawa: unconventional Dutch cinema
|
|
IFCO has partnered up with the Canadian Film Institute (CFI), for a special screening of unconventional Dutch cinema, direct from Holland’s Filmbank, http://www.filmbank.nl/. On Wednesday, October 8th, 2008, join us at the Library & Archives (395 Wellington Street), for an evening of eclectic experimental Dutch films.
JUST is the name of this touring program from the Filmbank (Amsterdam), a champion for the advancement of innovative, independent Dutch cinema. “This film-program transports the continuously changing Dutch landscape out of 16th century renaissance painting tradition and into the 21st century moving image; from farmers bailing hay in layers of extremely colourful celluloid to a wanderer finding his way through a black & white industrial seascape”.
The program is sponsored by the Royal Netherlands Embassy, and curated by filmmaker Pim Zwier, who will attend the screenings to introduce and discuss the films.
You will be transported into Dutch culture for one evening, and be awed by the beauty and richness of the Dutch landscape.
Canadians and the Dutch have always enjoyed a long standing camaraderie; join us on October 8th, and discover why we have so much more in common than meets the eye.
Admission to the screening is $10 for the general public and $6 for IFCO and CFI members.
When: Wednesday, October 8th, 2008
