Despite the economic downturn in the Netherlands, unemployment is still falling.
In the third quarter 3.7 percent of the labour force was without work compared to 4.3 percent in the same period last year, according to the latest report by national statistics office CBS on Thursday.
Unemployment is lower than it has been since 2001, but falling slower than it did in 2006 and 2007.
A total of 292,000 people were unemployed in the three-month period from July to September, 4,000 fewer than in the same 2007 period.
Most of the decline is the result of the fact that more women have jobs, says the CBS.
The state-run job centre organisation CWI registered 231,000 vacancies by September this year, up four percent from 2007.
