Netherlands and Switzerland sign military cooperation treaty
Netherlands and Switzerland sign military cooperation treatyOn 12 April, foreign minister Maxime Verhagen and the Swiss ambassador, Dominik Alder, signed a bilateral treaty covering military exercises, education and training. This was the first time both men had signed an international treaty.
The treaty will regulate the two countries’ rights and duties, including the status of military and civil personnel on joint exercises in both countries. Joint military activities are likely to include flying exercises (involving the Royal Netherlands Air Force) and cold weather and mountain training (involving the Royal Netherlands Army and the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps).
