Trade and Commerce Department

The Dutch Government has four missions in Canada: Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver. Each mission has an Economic and Commercial Department and covers a region of Canada. However, cross-region teams are created to apply specialised knowledge where necessary.

The main task of the economic departments is assistance in trade promotion for Dutch organisations. Activities of the Economic and Commercial Affairs Departments at the Dutch missions in Canada are closely coordinated with The Netherlands Foreign Trade Promotion Agency (EVD) and The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), bodies of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

We provide information for entrepreneurs from the Netherlands about doing business in Canada. We also actively promote the Netherlands as gateway to Europe for Canadian transnational companies.

The Netherlands’ missions focus on sustainability (energy, building, environment, water, infrastructure) pays off. Over the last years we have helped Dutch companies getting a foot in the door, by searching for local partners, organising seminars, booths at tradeshows, workshops, trade missions to the Netherlands and bringing speakers over to name but a few of the activities.

To answer your questions, we recommend you start with the Netherlands Front Office (NFO), based in North America that is able to answer most of the frequently asked questions instantly. Call the Netherlands Front Office at 1 877 388 2443 or email the NFO at Emailadres nfo@dutchhelp.com. The NFO is open from 7 am until 7 pm Central Time. Ask for the trade department in your region.
