PRIME MINISTER BALKENENDE OF THE NETHERLANDS TO VISIT CANADA Prime Minister Balkenende will visit Canada on Monday June 11 and Tuesday June 12, 2007. The objective of his visit is to strengthen co-operation between both countries. Some of the subjects to be discussed are security (including co-operation in Afghanistan), cultural diversity, sustainability and energy supply guarantees. On Monday morning Prime Minister Balkenende will place a wreath at The National War Monument in Ottawa, followed by a meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper at Parliament Hill. As well, discussions will be held with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defence and Development Co-operation. In the afternoon the Prime Minister will give a speech for the Canadian Institute of International Affairs, after which he will leave for Edmonton, where he will be meeting the Dutch community. The visit to Alberta on Tuesday regards cooperation with Canada in the area of sustainability of energy supplies in this province. At a breakfast meeting hosted by Mayor Mandel of Edmonton, Prime Minister Balkenende will give a key note address for representatives of the business community of Alberta and the members of a Dutch FME trade mission (Technological, Industrial, Employers and Business Association), which is in Alberta at the same time. After his visit to the National Institute for NanoTechnology (NINT), the Prime Minister will attend a meeting, followed by a luncheon at Government House, hosted by Premier Ed Stelmach of Alberta. Before returning to The Netherlands, Prime Minister Balkenende will visit the oil sands in the afternoon.

VISITE DU PREMIER-MINISTRE DES PAYS-BAS BALKENENDE AU CANADA Le Premier-Ministre des Pays-Bas, M. Jan Peter Balkenende, sera en visite au Canada du lundi 11 juin au mardi 12 juin 2007. Cette visite sera sous le signe du renforcement de la collaboration entre les deux pays. A l’ordre du jour figurent des sujets tels que la sécurité (entre-autre la coopération en Afghanistan), la diversité culturelle, le développement durable et la sécurité de l’approvisionnement énergétique. Lundi matin, le Premier-Ministre déposera une couronne au Mémorial national de guerre à Ottawa. Une rencontre avec le Premier-Ministre Stephen Harper suivra à la colline parlementaire. Par ailleurs, il s’entretiendra avec les Ministres des Affaires étrangères, de la Défense et de l’Agence canadienne de développement international. En après-midi, le Premier-Ministre prononcera un discours pour l’Institut canadien des Affaires internationales. Par la suite, il quittera pour Edmonton (Alberta) où il rencontrera des membres de la communauté néerlandaise. La visite de mardi en Alberta s’inscrira sous le thème de la collaboration avec le Canada au niveau de la durabilité des réserves énergétiques. Lors d’un déjeuner offert par le Maire d’Edmonton, Mr. Mandel, le Premier-Ministre s’adressera aux représentants du monde des affaires de l’Alberta, ainsi qu’aux membres de la Mission FME (Association néerlandaise des employeurs de l’industrie métallurgique), en visite en Alberta. Par la suite, une visite à l’Institut national de nanotechnologie de l’Université d’Alberta sera suivie par une rencontre et un déjeuner offert au « Government House » par le Premier-Ministre de l’Alberta, M. Ed Stelmach. Après une visite aux sables bitumineux du lac Mildred, le Premier-Ministre regagnera, au cours de la soirée de mardi, les Pays-Bas.
