The Universiteit Maastricht is the youngest university in the Netherlands and growing rapidly. The UM has seven faculties: the Faculty of General Sciences, the Faculty of Arts and Culture, the Faculty of Economic Sciences, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Health Science, the Faculty of Psychology and the Faculty of Law. Next to that there is the University College Maastricht.

The Faculty of Law offers an English language postgraduate programme, the Magister Luris Communis programme, which leads to a degree of Master of Laws (LL.M.) in comparative European and International Law. This one-year program is open to students who – upon successful completion of their basic legal education – wish to acquire the specialised knowledge and skills necessary for a European or internatonal legal career.
